Water Treatment Plant Tours

The Rowley Water Department is pleased to offer guided tours of the Alexander Good Water Filtration Plant. The purpose of the guided tour is to enhance the public’s awareness and understanding about where your drinking water comes from and how we treat the water to provide clean drinking water for the Town.

Guided Tours are offered Monday through Friday from 9am to 2pm. Tours will last approximately 15 min to ½ hour. Contact the Water Department at 978-948-2640 x101 to register.

In order to ensure a pleasant touring experience, all participants are required to observe the following rules for the safety and security of the facility as well as the participants:

  •  No cell phones
  • No cameras
  • No video recording devices
  • Safety glasses worn in lab and process room
  • Closed toed shoes only
  • No children under the age of 10
  • Pre-Registration is required
  • No walk-ins
  • Name tags must be worn
  • No eating or drinking is allowed during the tour.
  • Mobile phones, pagers and other beeping/ringing devices should be turned to silent mode during the tour.
  • Large bags, umbrellas, raincoats and any items not needed for the tour should be kept in the lockers provided at the Main Lobby or in such other places as required by the staff conducting the tour.
  • Participants are responsible for their personal belongings during the tour. Participants should stay with the group and not wander around.
  • Late comers will be arranged to join the next available tour.
  • Participants ignoring the warnings and refusing to obey any directions given to him/her by the staff conducting the tour are required to leave the tour.

The above Rules are subject to review and may be changed as and when required.

Our mission

To provide adequate water quantity and quality at a reasonable cost and sufficient water for fire protection. To administer first-rate customer service to the Town of Rowley. To operate all aspects of the municipal water supply in an environmentally sound fashion and to maximize system reliability, minimize losses, repair or improve system deficiencies and operate within an established budget. To ensure regulatory compliance and to protect the residents from contamination and back siphon/ backflow water quality issues.
