Obstructed hydrants can delay emergency response
Fire hydrants are essential to public safety and must be kept clear of obstructions, including snow.
Hydrants must be readily accessible to firefighters. To operate a hydrant, fire crews need three feet clearance on all sides. Once a hydrant is cleared, the space must be maintained. Blocked hydrants can delay and diminish efforts to effectively fight fires.
The Town of Rowley Water Department and the Fire Department appreciate the voluntary efforts of residents who clear their neighborhood fire hydrant of snow.
Adopt a hydrant and make it part of your shoveling and snow clearing routine. It will only take a few extra minutes and is a quick and easy way to help us to help you.
Your assistance is appreciated!
